RCIA

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Are you searching for God in your life?  Do you want to know more about the Catholic faith?  Do you want to join the Catholic Church?

The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself.  Only in God will he find the truth and happiness he never stops searching for.  (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #27)

What is the R.C.I.A. Program?

The RCIA is a spiritual journey that leads to a transformation of mind and spirit.

The main goal of the RCIA is to assist women and men in their spiritual quest to discover God’s will in their lives. Through sessions designed to teach the Catholic faith, adults may embrace Catholicism and choose to become active members of the Church.

RCIA is for adults who:

  • Were never baptized
  • Were baptized in another Christian denomination and may desire to become Catholic
  • Were baptized as Catholics, but never received Communion (Eucharist) and or Confirmation

To learn more or register for RCIA at St. Joseph Catholic Church, email Kelly O'Brien the Coordinator of the RCIA program or call 244-9002, ext.1 and select the option for Patty the Office Manager.

When are the RCIA sessions offered?

The sessions are conducted every Wednesday evening alternating between St. Joseph and St. Ann from September to April.  For those who enter the Church or complete the Sacraments of Initiation, this will occur during the Holy Saturday Easter Vigil Mass - the day before Easter.  The Sacraments of Initiation include: Baptism (if you've never been baptized before), First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
